Microwave brownies.

100 kcal (for entire recipe)

Recipe: click here

I used candarel sweetener instead of sugar, self-raising flour instead of whole wheat flour

and natural unsweetened almond milk (not vanilla).

Cookbook:

Real life:

These are pretty damn awesome.

Only 100 kcal per serving and the serving size is THIS

That's five, I repeat, FIVE mini-brownies

(every one +/- half the size of a regular brownie) for 100 kcal.

Or one for 20 kcal, if you have so much self-control that you can stop at one.

As you can see, they're not really minuscule or anything.

They're small, sure, but for 20 kcal a piece, the size is not too bad.

They didn't taste like brownies though.

That's just my crazy luck.

I go looking for a good microwave cake, I end up with a poached egg and a cookie.

I go looking for brownies, I end up with an amazing microwave cake.

FIVE amazing microwave cakes, actually.

My advice is to absolutely NOT wait until they have the consistency of brownies.

After 1 minute and 30 seconds on high power in the microwave (1000W)

they were still REALLY soft,

so I was pondering leaving them in the microwave for another few seconds,

but when I put the knife in (the bottom right one, that's why there's a indentation there),

it completely sank in and came out dry.

So they were done. Just soft. Like cake.

I guess that makes this a microwave cake, instead of microwave brownies.

So, my opinion on this:

Difficulty:

★ ★

Almost all the ingredients are things you usually have in your kitchen anyway,

so no trouble there.

It does have more ingredients than a normal microwave cake,

but them again, it also leaves you with more (and better) cake, so...

Taste:

★ ★ ★

Just like really soft and fluffy chocolate cake.

I'll definitely be making this again.

Portion size:

★ ★ ★ ★

It's five small cakes for 100 kcal.

Normal mug cakes are 50 kcal for ONE of these kind of cakes.

So this is one of those rare few recipes where the portion size (and the taste) is

actually worth the kcal.
